The Queen of Queanbeyan

Queanbeyan is a beautiful town just outside of Canberra but is still located in NSW. I made a trip down to Queanbeyan back in 2016 as then the newly wonderful sculpture called Queany a 500 kilogram platypus sculpture created by local sculptor Neil Dickinson was unveiled. Queany sits on the banks of the Queanbeyan River guarding the river almost like a Easter Island moai located just down from the Isabella Street footbridge. The mosaic around Queany was created by volunteers working with Freya Jobbins a well known Sydney artist. The Queanbeyan River is said to be home to platypuses and rakali. The Queanbeyan River walk is a must the walk starts off at Queens bridge and ends up at Queen Elizabeth park, a duration of about an hour and showcases local nature and historic buildings of the town.

Below is a video I made from footage of Queany on the river.
